Alex Cornish’s debut
album ‘Until The Traffic Stops’ - written, played, sung and produced in
his Edinburgh bedroom by the self-confessed “complete fucking control
freak” – has provoked the kind of tips and plays that any major-label
release would beg for. Sessions for Radio 2 (Dermot O’Leary), 6 Music,
XFM Scotland, a song played over the end credits of a Hollywood film and
The Sunday Times' “hottest download of the week” – this is a special
record, made all the more remarkable for it’s DIY beginnings. Now,
encouraged by the reaction to the album’s initial low-key release, and
with a team of like-minded music industry supporters on-board, ‘Until
The Traffic Stops’ is to be re-released, with the title track out as a
single on September 29th.
So far the single has been Radcliffe & Maconie's single of the week on Radio 2 ("Gorgeous", Mark Radcliffe), single of the month in The Skinny, had spins on the Dermot O' Leary show on Radio 2, BBc Radio 1, XFM Scotland, 6 Music, Leith FM, BBC Radio Scotland and Northsound. There are a load of reviews from the recent tour on myspace. But it's on the 29th that it all counts, so get to itunes!!
